The Opportunity
Computer Training Magazine (www.computertrainingmag.com) is an IT magazine with informative articles and training resources for CTOs, CIOs, IT managers, and technology purchase influencers.

The current issue of the magazine features Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. The earlier issue featured an article from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Noted IT Industry veterans including John Venator from CompTIA and Tom Clancy from EMC have also contributed articles to the magazine.

The magazine offers quick access to authoritative reviews of technology products, continuously updated industry news and training resources and information on technology products from vendors including Adobe, Autodesk, Check Point, Cisco, Citrix, CIW, CompTIA, EC-Council, EMC, Intel, ITIL, Linux Institute, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, PMI, SOX and Zend.

A subsidiary of NetCom Information Technology, Microsoft's number one learning partner in the world, CTM is looking for a business executive to make CTM profitable by selling sponsorship packages for the magazine.

Through the sponsorship packages, companies can get their technology products or messages from company executives in front of a very targeted audience. The sponsorship packages allow a company to virtually "own your own magazine", without the hassle of building a printing and distribution channel.

Target companies for this program are large companies in the IT industry. A sampling of such companies includes hardware vendors (Dell, HP, Cisco), software vendors (Oracle, MS), certification vendors (CompTIA, EC-Council, PMI), exam vendors (Transcender, MeasureUp), solution provider (MS, Cisco, Citrix partners), ISVs (Independent software vendors), LARs (Large Account Resellers), IT Retail stores (CompUSA, Circuit city), Technology Service providers (Pitney Bowes, Xerox), Technology consulting (IBM, Accenture) and many more.

The position includes competitive benefits. The company is based in NY / NJ metro area, but the position is location independent. Relocation available.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define and direct the direction for the magazine, for maximum ROI
  • Develop and research new account base
  • Prospect and qualify potential clients and close sales within established deadlines.
  • Coordinate sales with magazine editors to ensure timely completion of advertisements.
  • Developing and pitching sponsorship packages designed to meet clients. needs

Qualifications include:

  • Experience managing / running similar publications preferred.
  • Strong ability to sell conceptually
  • Relationship-based selling approach
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Strong business-to-business selling skills
  • Strong phone engagement, heavy cold calling and negotiation skills
  • Successful candidates will have a good work ethic, flourish in a team environment, be good at multi-tasking, be self motivated, possess high energy, be detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, and solutions focused.
  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA preferred
